Dolan Consulting Group (DCG) recently examined a nationwide sample of 661 cases of serious employee misconduct handled by fire rescue agencies. This was done to better understand the nature and handling of employee misconduct cases within the fire rescue services field, and provide evidence-based management and liability training tailored specifically to the needs of fire rescue agencies. This webinar will reveal the current trends in serious misconduct encountered within the fire rescue service, and summarize the forms of discipline most commonly assigned to various types of employee misconduct. It will then discuss the trends for how these cases are handled when the employee attempts to appeal his or her corrective action. Finally, we will examine what case characteristics are often associated with a judge or labor arbitrator overturning the discipline imposed by the department.
