Law enforcement officer uniforms are often chosen based on a mixture of tradition, personal preferences of the chief executive, and demands from the officer’s through their union. Unfortunately, law enforcement agencies rarely think through the psychological impression their uniforms may be having on the public. There is a fair amount of research on the psychological influence of police uniform color and tailoring on members of the public. This webinar will review this research, examining what impact the uniform and grooming standards have on citizen compliance and citizen satisfaction with the police.
