Claims of unlawful sexual harassment levied against a fire department are extremely costly in terms of time, resources, finances and agency reputation—the public perception that those trusted to help in our time of greatest need are engaging in harassment can often erode public trust. It is also a reality–fairly or unfairly–that citizens draw a connection between internal incidents of sexual harassment and other forms of sexual misconduct outside the fire house.
This two-hour webinar will provide agency leaders with a fundamental understanding of the legal requirements regarding:
Creating and abiding by comprehensive harassment policies.
Effectively communicating policies to the rank-and-file.
Training supervisors on their obligations when receiving allegations of harassment.
Investigating harassment allegations in a manner that safeguards the agency from claims of retaliation and ensures due process for all involved.
