Public safety agencies often select their uniforms based on a mixture of tradition, personal preferences of the chief executive, and demands from the employees through their union. Unfortunately, public safety agencies rarely think through the psychological impression their uniforms may be having on the public. There is a fair amount of research on the psychological influences uniform color and tailoring have on members of the public. This webinar will review this research, examining what impact the uniform and grooming standards have on citizen compliance with, and impressions of, public safety professionals.
